It uses microswitches, and a more compact photo detector arrangement using a single LED for each pair of axes. ie: one for V & VQ and another for H & HQ components - 2 LEDS instead of the usual 4. To accommodate this the matching photodiode is a dual unit with 3 connections, one common and two signal. Components: 3 Microswitches Zippy DM-03P-S (already there) 1 Hex Inverting Schmitt Trigger 74014 (omos) (cost: about 50 cents) (or any similar logic device) 1 cable, 9-wire with shield drain, 2-metre w/ DB9F. (cost:~$5 with connectors) 1 resistor 390 ohms 1/8 watt. 1 resistor 2k ohms (or 2k2) 1/8 watt 4 resistors 22k ohms, 1/8 watt or less smallest for physical size.
